A Week of Writerly Delights
A highly successful playwriting course, a prestigious competition and a fun workshop
Successful Playwriting Course
I completed the Fishamble Playwriting course over the weekend. I could talk about how I exhausted myself going up and down to Dublin each day for the course, or how I ate some delicious sausage rolls.
Instead, I can tell you that I learned how to write lyrical stage directions and how to structure a play script. For the time being, I'm going to explore what I learned and see where it takes me.
Write By the Sea Festival
The beautifully run boutique literary festival Write By the Sea festival is happening again this September in Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford. The festival is currently taking entries for its short story, memoir, flash fiction and poetry competitions. Entries close at 6pm on Friday 6 June. You'll find all the competition details on the Write By the Sea website, right here.
Japanese Gardens Event Registration Open
It turns out that the Japanese Gardens Gathering on Saturday 14 June is a hot ticket. So, if you want to be part of the fun on the day, you will need to register, using the subject line GATHERING. If you'd like your writers' group included in our showcase, please indicate this in your email.
If you want to read during the open mic part of the Gathering, you send a separate email with the subject line REGISTER TO READ. You'll find all the events and registration info on the Japanese Gardens website. Here's the link.
Speak Up Workshop Reminder
There are only a couple of places left for our Speak Up Public Speaking workshop on Saturday 10 May from 10.30am to 2pm. When the places fill up, you can put your name down for the waiting list, and you've a good chance of getting a place because there are often cancellations.
If you want to get one of the last few remaining places or go on the waiting list, the booking link is here. If you have booked a place and need to cancel, please contact Deborah on 0894825443 or speakupwaterford@gmail.com. Then you can leave a place free for someone else.
