Classic Jobs and Classy Graphics
Exciting news about my lovely new job and how to turn yourself into a graphic designer.
Nuggets For You: Canva
If you’re like me and your word skills are stronger than your visual ones, Canva is a godsend. It can turn anyone into a graphic designer. It lets you create graphics for your social media posts and your website. You pick one of their designs and you adapt it to what you want to say, in terms of colour and font.
You can also create designs for book covers, which is useful if you’re on a budget, or to generate ideas to explore with your book cover designer. Check Canva out for yourself.
If you want to see what Canva is like, here’s one I prepared earlier.
Photo Description: In white writing on a pink background, you see the words A Cluster of Stars. It was a Canva I prepared as part of a series of social media posts about quirky collective nouns. My website has since changed to writewords.ie.
My Own Nugget: New PR Role at Waterford Music
I’ve hit the high notes with my latest piece of work. I am now working in harmony with classical music organisation Waterford Music as their PR officer. I’m creating social media posts, press releases and other written content that I hope will be in tune with their message. And I believe we will make a super duet.
I’m writing all the puns so you don’t have to. But I must say it’s a delightful job, writing about classical music, with I love, and attending concerts in the name of work. It’s great to rise to a new challenge – and it is truly a classic job.
If you want to share any more musical puns with me, you can contact me on derbhile@writewords.ie.
Congratulations Derbhile on the new job. Sounds wonderful. I'm sure you will hit all the right notes in your new role! Best of luck with it.
