Nuggets For You: Connect Factor Open Mic
I was on a networking call for artists a few weeks ago and got chatting to the founder of the Connect Factor Open Mic in Dublin. Open mics can feel a bit brutal and exposing, but Connect Factor was founded by a social care worker and it links up with mental health services in the Lucan area of Dublin.
So, you can expect a fun night in a caring atmosphere. If you want to find out more about how this open mic works, friend Connect Factor on Facebook or find them on Instagram, @connectfactoropenmic.
My Own Nugget: How To Write Funny
I’m giving a workshop as part of the Speak Up Spoken Word initiative called How to Write Funny. It’s on Saturday 24 February at Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford City, from 11am-3pm.
Photo Description: This is the Speak Up Logo, which is orange with a red megaphone. Underneath the megaphone there’s writing that says Speak Up Waterford.
You don’t need to be a comedian to write funny – it’s more about writing in a humorous way and celebrating the absurd in everyday life. Price will be €55. If you’d like to go, let me know and I’ll add your name to the list. Contact me on derbhile@writewords.ie.
