People Wipe Me: Theatre Titbits
This week, I bring you tidbits of gossip from behind the scenes of People Wipe Me.
My plans for my People Wipe Me summer tour are bubbling along nicely, so I thought I'd devote this post to sharing some behind-the-scenes gossip as I prepare to take the show on the road.
For now, my eyes are firmly fixed on my debut performance at Cluain in Clonmel on 15 July.
Plans for Cluain Debut Show
Food is high on the agenda for that performance, because there'll be a meal as part of the €25 ticket price. The meal will be at 6pm and the performance will be at 7pm. I've Cluain manager Gerry Flynn has been highly accommodating.
He's reassured me that no catering noises will leak through the door during my performance; the room is soundproof.
Description: A cheerful blue and white sign says Cluain Coffee shop. There's a ramp leading up to the door, and the surrounding building is white.
Cluain want to sell printed tickets for the performance, so I'm getting colourful tickets printed up, which I fancy will remain souvenirs of the show for many years to come. These will be available to purchase at Cluain from mid-June onwards, and those tickets are being designed by my design guru Roisin Royce.
A New Rehearsal Partner
I've been suffering severe withdrawal symptoms since I finished rehearsals with my theatre guru, Angela Keogh. Our wonderful relationship will continue, but I've found another brilliant person to fill in the gaps.
Actress Lynda Gough will be my rehearsal partner for my performances in Tramore and Kildare later in the summer. We will have a blast and I look forward to learning from Lynda's vast experience.
A Second Tour
One tour isn't enough for me either – I'm now organising a second tour. It'll be in January and February of next year and three venues are already starting to nibble. I reckon it'll be another five-date tour.
One of the venues I have in mind is Gealach Gorm Theatre in Kill, Co. Waterford. I'm going to a one-woman show there to check it out, and to see what a one-woman show will look like on the stage.
What a happy explosion of activity. Stay tuned to find out what's happening with my summer tour in the coming weeks.
