Stepping It Up for My Tramore Show
I step my preparations up a gear for my show at the Coastguard Centre in Tramore; there'll be lights and a stage!
Wow, this People Wipe Me tour is whizzing by. I'm now looking ahead to my fourth date, which is just nine days away. It's happening on Saturday 27 August in the Coastguard Cultural Centre in Tramore, the town I've made my home.
This performance is supported by a lovely shiny grant, an Arts Practice Grant from Waterford City and County Council Arts Office. As a result, I'm stepping my performance up a gear.
This is the logo for Waterford Council, which has two V-shapes on the left-hand side, in light and dark shades of blue. It says Waterford City and County Council in English and Irish, in blue lettering.
The Coastguard's tech guru, Mick Cullen, will set up a stage with a backdrop for me, and lights will cast a glow over me as I perform. Truly, I will be stepping into the limelight.
Fancy Staging
I've also learned a lovely new word: cyclorama – theatre folks call it the cyc. It's the curtain you see at the back of a stage that creates a backdrop so you'll stand out on the stage. And I'm going to have one of those – you won't miss me!
Thankfully I'll still have the support of my rehearsal partner in crime, Lynda Gough, to help me take this bold step. She's been rehearsing with me again at Garter Lane, and she'll be there on the day, offering moral and practical support.
Publicity Push
I'm now making my final publicity push, hitting the press, putting up posters and tormenting everyone I know about the show. But already, through word of mouth alone, I've sold nearly forty tickets. The venue can hold 70 people. If I got fifty, I'd be delighted.
If you like what you've read and you want to be part of this crowd, you can book on Eventbrite for €12 a ticket – here's the link.
