TAP and BLAST Schools Projects
A nugget about programmes that bring artists into schools for projects.
A few years ago, I hit a purple patch when I was accepted onto the Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP) Programme, funded by Creative Ireland. This programme matches artists with teachers, who train together and then deliver projects together.
After you’ve done TAP residencies, you move on to the BLAST programme, where you’re placed in a school in an area of disadvantage, or a special school.
Photo Description: This red treasure box, with drawings on the outside, acted as a repository for stories during a TAP residency in 2021.
The TAP and BLAST programmes are delivered through the Education Support Centres, or Teachers’ Centres, and there’s one in every county, so contact your local one to find out if they’re running a TAP programme next year.
