Warm-Weather Writing
This newsletter celebrates warm workshops and features a warm-weather word.
Delightful Celebrant Writing Workshops
I gave a creative writing workshop to a delightful group of celebrants last Sunday. They were a Goldilocks group, with just the right combination of dynamism, tenderness, willingness to learn – and a dash of creative spark. I gave them structures and ideas to help them come up with a love story for wedding couples or a eulogy for a loved one.
This was also the first outdoor creative writing workshop I've ever done – here's the proof in the photo.
Photo Description: This is a picture of me sitting in a yard, with plants and a wall in the background. I’m wearing my grey storytelling hat and a blue patterned top.
WordNerd: Sploot
If you have a dog, then you'll see them lying in the sun, lying on their belly with their hind legs outstretched. The WordNerd was pleased to discover that there's a word for this pose – the sploot, or splooting if you want to make it a verb. The origin of this word isn't clear – it may be a play on splat, the word used to describe any creature who's splayed out on the ground.
