Where do you find the motivation to write your second book, your second play, your second collection of poetry or stories, after your first?

In the story or the characters or both. A new book/play brings new people into the world with their own tales to tell. They 're not (usually) the ones who peopled the first work so they have new things to say and new ways of saying them
But how do you find those new people and new stories?
In your head; in songs; in photos; in overheard conversations; on walks; in imagination; in other people's lives; in your own life......
